Q.2. Would you agree that the PEB industry is not growing to its optimum potential due to lack of awareness vis-à-vis convention building materials?
Yes. PEB industry has not yet achieved its full potential and is expected to grow in coming years because of adaptation of newer technologies in the construction industry besides the existing conventional type of construction.
Q.3. With the new government putting focus back on infrastructure development, how much growth do you foresee for the PEB industry?
Yes. Infrastructure appears to be in revival mode because of many initiatives and reforms taken up by the central government. Also, better infrastructure will also increase overall economic growth of the country leading to higher demand for PEB products & services. The Make in India campaign, development of 100 Smart Cities, Mass Housing, etc. will further give a boost to the economic growth and mainly infrastructure development. Going ahead and in the subsequent years, all the reforms and initiatives taken by our governments will act as the propelling factor for the economic growth of the country and shape the country’s road to success.
Kirby India is already a part of many ongoing industrial infrastructure and urban infrastructure projects across India for different type of steel building requirements. Kirby India will be a part of this growth story by developing country’s infrastructure requirements across all the segments and use the hi-tech and high efficiency PEB construction technology to make an impact on India’s economic progress with a footprint on the global map.
Q.4. Does the PEB industry expect some kind of a policy-push from the government and local bodies? What is Kirby’s long-term strategy in the PEB sector?
Construction industry accounts for more than 66% of total steel consumption and in advanced countries more than 2/3rd of the buildings are made in steel. The government should promote steel as construction material for speedy implementation of the projects and avoid cost overruns and project delays.
PEB is one of the preferred mode of construction as it is faster, environmental friendly, earthquake resistant, lesser maintenance; provide higher column free space, high resale value, green benefits, dry construction, saving of natural resources, etc. All the Kirby buildings comply with green building norms laid down by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Citing all these advantages, PEB industry definitely seeks some kind of policy push from the government and local bodies which will give the PEB sector its due recognition and create awareness across all the target respondents.
Kirby India has grown manifolds over the last few years by executing simple box like buildings to very complex industrial buildings to high-rise structures. The company is now adapting new innovative methods across design, fabrication & construction which has widened their scope of operations in the long term and will continue to explore newer areas which will benefit the PEB sector as a whole.
Q.5. How do you think forums like India Warehousing Show, playing a key role in preparing industry for the changing times ahead?
Yes, Forums like India Warehousing Show definitely play a key role in creating awareness about the usage and benefits of PEB / Structural Steel in the rapidly changing dynamics of growing construction industry.
